Community College. The collaboration between the
LVGA and Brookdale Community College has been very productive.
County Road 520. Newman Springs
Road or CR520 is the major east-west highway that travels
through the center of Lincroft. The LVGA has identified and
addressed the following problems associated with this very
busy road: congestion, unsafe pedestrian access, speeding,
unsightliness, and poor parking lot entrance/exit design.
Monmouth County is also studying proposals to improve conditions.
GSP & Rt 18 Access. The
LVGA would like to see additional exits opened on both the
Garden State Parkway and Route 18 to help reduce congestion
in Lincroft caused by GSP exit 109. more>
Park. The land, saved through the
efforts of the founding members of the LVGA and preserved
as open space by the Township of Middletown, has become a
beautiful park. more>
Parking Lot Access. Some of
the congestion along CR520 is caused by poor parking lot entrance
and exit designs and by the need for parking lots to interconnect.
Pedestrian Safety (Summary).
The LVGA has identified various pedestrian safety problems,
both in the center of Lincroft (more)
and along Swimming River Road (here).
Recommendations that the LVGA has made to improve pedestrian
safety in the center of Lincroft are found here.
Swimming River Road. The LVGA
has been working with local and county officials to preserve
the residential nature of Swimming River Road. Current initiatives
include maintaining the reduced speed limit of 35 MPH, minimizing
the number of heavy trucks that use the road and providing
safe crosswalks. more>
Tree Streets. Residents living
in the area between Swimming River Road and Phalanx Road have
been plagued by Brookdale students who illegally use their
streets as a short cut to the College. more>
