2009 Annual Picnic in the Park to featured

The RB Express Doo Wop Group

On Sunday, October 11th, 2009, the RB Express performed on the Village Green in the heart of Lincroft as part of the Annual Picnic in the Park celebration, hosted by the Lincroft Village Green Association (LVGA). The Picnic in the Park took place from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and featured free food, refreshments and entertainment all afternoon, thanks to the generosity of Lincroft businesses (past sponsors list). The popular Lincroft band “Bad Parents” warmed up the crowd to RB Express's performance. New this year was a demonstration by a Lincroft karate school. Children enjoyed the clown, face painting, games and balloons. Photos of the event can be seen here.

The RB Express exemplifies the tight harmonies and rhythms of early street corner doo-wop and have performed with such artists as Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, Little Anthony and The Imperials, The Tokens, Larry Chance and The Earls, The Passions, The Dimensions, Richard Street's Temptations Review, Felix Cavaliere and The Young Rascals, The Happenings, Lou Christie, and The Angels. They have also appeared in the movie, "The Old Man and the Seymore", and on television with "Fox and Friends". Having completed two albums, “On the Scene”, and "Back on Track", the RB Express will soon be returning to the studio to record their long-awaited 3rd album in the hope of continuing to spread the gospel of doo-wop to fans both old and new.

This is the 8th event hosted by the LVGA at the Green and it was held in conjunction with our Annual General Membership meeting.  Plans are in the works for this year's Picnic and Meeting.
