2011 Annual Picnic in the Park to feature Tom Chapin

The LVGA is hosting its 9th celebration at the Lincroft Village Green, the park across from the Lincroft Inn, with this year's 'Picnic in the Park'. Tom Chapin will provide this year's entertainment. As was true at the other festivities, which included Tom Chapin first appearance at the LVGA Picnic in 2007, the event is 'family friendly'.  The following Lincroft restaurants have graciously agreed to provide free samples from their menus:

Luigis Restorante
Queso Grill
Aleo's Italian Specialties

See the photo gallery of 2007 Chapin concert here.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 2nd, from 1:00 to 5 PM, so mark your calendars and remember to bring a lawn chair.  In case of rain Tom Chapin will perform at Middletown High School South at 2 PM.  Download a flyer in pdf format here or view here.

Children's and adult albums, contemporary folk and pop, Tom Chapin's music spans styles and generations. For more than thirty years and through eighteen compact discs, Chapin has entertained, amused and enlightened audiences of all ages with life-affirming original songs told in a sophisticated array of musical styles. His children recordings have been honored by numerous Grammy nominations for Best Musical Album for Children, Parents’ Choice Awards, and National Parenting Publications Gold Medal Awards.

The New York Times calls Tom Chapin "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music." He has recorded seven albums of adult-oriented material, with his eighth in progress. His concerts and recordings are sparked by strong, intelligent songwriting with clear, engaging vocals and the intricate, melodic guitar work that has become his trademark. Tom says: "Mine is not a traditional music, but it comes from a tradition. My musical heroes are people like Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie who wrote and sang real songs for real people; for everyone, old, young, and in between."
