Monmouth County Studies CR520
Monmouth County hired the transportation engineering firm Orth-Rodgers to conduct a traffic study of Newman Springs Road (CR 520) and the results of this study were published in March of 2002 in the "County Route 520 - Newman Springs Road - Corridor Study." Links for the unabridged study are located at the bottom of this page.

LVGA Summary of the Monmouth County Study.
The Lincroft Village Green Association has prepared a summary of the Orth-Rodgers long-term recommendations for CR 520 as presented in the "County Route 520 - Newman Springs Road - Corridor Study." LVGA observations and comments for each recommendation are also included. Read the LVGA summary here.

Monmouth County Presents its Recommendations to the Public.
Mr. Theodore Giannechini, County Engineer, presented the study to the public on June 18, 2002, at a public meeting at Brookdale Community College. Public comments were solicited both verbally at the meeting and in written form to the Office of the County Engineer within a period of 2 months. The LVGA presented a petition to the County Engineer at the June 18th presentation. The petition was signed by over 2000 people and read "We, the undersigned, support efforts to slow vehicular traffic in the Lincroft Village along County Routes 520 (Newman Springs Road) and 50 (Middletown-Lincroft Road). We oppose widening these streets; and we want safe pedestrian access along and across these streets."

The LVGA Conducts a Public Meeting to Present Proposals.
Prior to writing a response to the county's recommendations, the LVGA presented its proposals to the public in a presentation at Brookdale Community College on August 13, 2002. A survey was conducted at the LVGA presentation. The public overwhelming supported the recommendations made by the LVGA. The survery and the results of the survey can be viewed at survey and results. The Lincroft Village Green Association submitted a written response in a letter, dated August 16, 2002. The LVGA also submitted a comprehensive list of recommendations to the county. These documents can be viewed at letter and list.

The LVGA Hires a Consultant.
These recommendations were the result of three years of LVGA discussions, input from the community, as well as the input of Mr. Charles Carmalt, a traffic planner. The LVGA was able to hire Mr. Carmalt, thanks to the generosity of Lincroft residents. Mr. Carmalt's recommendations regarding CR 520 can be viewed here.
